Whether you just looking for an experience, looking for an original gift or are considering keeping honey bees, this is the perfect introduction to bees and beekeeping, acquainting you with the equipment and of course getting up close to the bees. 

 

You will not learn everything you need to know to keep your own bees on just one day, but this a brilliant, informal and relaxed way to start your beekeeping knowledge.

Practical beekeeping is only possible during the active beekeeping season from April - August when the weather is good enough. Bad weather can ruin planning even when your date is confirmed, a late cancellation can happen. PAYPAL and CARD online payments are preferred, but we trust enough for CASH on the day to be fine. However, we pay PAYPAL and CARD fees so any returns for cancellation will not be 100% of what was paid.

 

The day’s event last from 10.00 am - 12.00 p.m. We usually run only 6 sessions in the season, on either Saturday or Sunday at one of our South Birmingham Apiaries. We limit the number of attendees to 8 so that all attendees get to experience handling the bees. We are happy to run overtime to ensure our attendees get all the outcomes they want from the experience.

 

Beekeepers protective observation tops with veils and gloves are provided but you will need to bring or wear some wellington boots and jeans. Be prepared to stand as our apiary has no seating. However we do have excellent parking. Full location and directions will be provided in your booking details.
